About
Us: Picture-it-in-Glass is my fulltime occupation. I started out in glass art as a hobby, it was an immediate passion. When I first dabbled in 1990, I was an Active Duty Air Force Nurse. With the demands of that profession, including worldwide travel, I was very limited in pursuing my artistic passion. I chose to retire in 1998 and devote myself to mastering this chosen craft.
I take exceptional pride in every piece I do, whether it is a 1” key chain or glass glob etched or an originally designed three piece stained glass entry in your home. Each piece is important to you…so it is important to me! While stationed in Korea, I purchased a couple of antique furniture pieces, and had a replication of a table made. The artisan demonstrated great pride in his beautiful work and said to me “I make future antiques and heirlooms”. I have always kept that thought, and adopted the same attitude toward each piece I make.
Though I have done many types of designs, several are very near and dear to my heart. Having retired from both the military and the profession of nursing, I maintain a close relationship with both institutions by specializing in artistic awards, gifts, and shadowboxes (memorabilia display cases). I have a unique knowledge that allows me to design just the right item for the individual or organization. For the past four years, I have designed a limited edition crystal ornament for the Colorado Nurse Foundation, helping to raise funds for nursing scholarships, as well as, doing similar projects for local schools. I was invited last year to participate in the local Home Builder’s Association Parade of Home (1 million dollar house), by etching the entry doors. The sale of the house provided funds to 6 charitable organizations.
Every glass project, especially a large architectural piece, whether it is stained glass or etching, is a piece you are going to have to live with for a long time. It needs reflect your taste and fit into your decor. To do this, I work closely with you throughout the entire project to insure that it meets or exceed your expectations.
On occasion I partner with Juanita Troyer, owner/artist of Drag-N-Glass (jmtroyer@adelphia.net). She specializes in “Heartstones” (mosaic memorials for animals) and stained glass panels as trophies for dog shows. I provide carving and etching as enhancements. In additions we have partnered on several restoration projects, notably the Estemere Estate in Palmer Lake, CO. When I have time to do something that is not “commission”, I occasionally have the opportunity to place completed pieces in a local art gallery, Cherokee’s of Manitou, Manitou Springs, CO.
